RECAP :
Some time after the women parted company in Edina’s house, Saffron has settled into university life and has found herself a friend besides Sarah. Patsy is living her life in New York. Edina has joined a commune, and Mother is making use of her daughter’s vacant house; drinking her drink, eating her food, and purchasing things from television with Edina’s credit cards.
It is soon apparent that neither one of them is entirely happily in their new life. Edina’s finding-oneself cause fails to meet her expectations, and she isn’t at all happy with how the other people at the commune live their lives. Hugging trees and meditating just isn’t enough for her.
Patsy fails to garner the respect she once had with her old magazine and the "HQ" Magazine editors and directors don’t like her revolutionary vision, and tell her she has to adapt to their way of doing things. She returns to her old tricks by tracking down the Publisher, Mitchell Friedman but it doesn’t quite go to plan when she finds him to be an old man in a wheelchair with breathing apparatis and Marshall’s former girlfriend, Bo as his nurse. Realising who she is working for, one of the richest men in New York, Bo runs away with him.
Saffron doesn’t quite settle into the university lifestyle. When she complains about some students smoking in a common area, everyone gets up and leaves. She later maintains her morals and doesn’t join her fellow students in taking drugs, but having grown up in Edina’s household, she is there to offer advice on how to roll the perfect marijuana cigarette.
Later, in New York, Patsy finds Mitchell Friedman again. Bo has been to his lawyer’s office and now they’re going to be married. They marry in a park and Patsy must bear witness. During the ceremony, however, Friedman has a heart attack and falls from his chair. Bo throws her voice for his "I do" and they are married, but she cannot get a pulse. She kicks her heals and heads for "Disneyland".
Edina leaves the commune, goes to New York and, while in a helicopter flying over the city, she finds Patsy drinking alone on a rooftop and they return home together. Their friendship is mended when they confess that neither was happy without the other. Saffron comes home, not expecting to see her mother and Patsy, and Bubble follows her into the sitting room, dressed as a maid and weilding a feather duster. Edina couldn’t get out of Bubble’s contract because it was non-specific - or so they said at the tribunal. The reunion is complete when Mother joins them having been released on a tag by the police. Edina had had her arrested for squatting and using her credit cards. Saffron tells Edina that she will no longer be pushed around now that she is over eighteen years old and that things are going to change.
