RECAP :
At a birthday party in the park, Prue witnesses a demon kidnapping a little boy. Prue reaches her hands toward the boy, named David, and levitates both David and the demon in the air. Prue is startled; she?s never channeled her power through her hands before. While she?s distracted, the demon escapes underground with David.
But Prue?s got another problem as well: a jogger in the park saw her use her powers. And the jogger, a reporter named Eric Lohman, wants an exclusive story for his tabloid newspaper. When he asks her about her magical powers, Prue says she doesn?t know what he?s talking about.
The sisters identify the demon who took David as a Grimlock. As Piper discovers in the Book of Shadows, these underground demons ?roam from city to city killing powerful forces of good by seeing the unique auras that surround them.? The Grimlocks are able to see the auras ?by stealing the sight of innocent children.?
Phoebe talks to a man named Brent Miller who was kidnapped from the same park twenty years earlier, and who was found blind after escaping from what he called ?storm drain monsters.? The police didn?t believe his story, of course, and attributed the loss of his eyesight to a parasite caught in the sewers. Phoebe convinces the man that she believes him, and that she needs his help to find the kidnapped child.
?Do you remember anything,? Phoebe asks, ?anything at all about that location? Did you hear anything or feel anything??
Brent says, ?All I remember is the sound of this enormous generator, and maybe some cable cars.?
Armed with this information, plus the help of a premonition, Phoebe identifies a likely location on a map.
Piper goes to see her boyfriend, Josh, to get a map of the storm drain system. He tells her he?s been offered a job in Beverly Hills, but he won?t take it if she thinks they have a future together. Piper needs time to think it over, and she leaves without giving him an answer.
Eric Lohman visits Andy at the police station. ?What do you say I pick your brain about Prue Halliwell,? Lohman says. ?Her name keeps popping up in a lot of your murder cases. A lot of the unsolved ones.?
Andy shows no reaction. ?Is that a fact??
?I assume you know all about Prue’s unusual powers, right??
?I don’t know what you’re talking about,? Andy says.
?I saw her in action in the park, Trudeau. She waved her hands and magically suspended that David Hasher kid and his kidnapper in midair. It was very cool. I just wish I had my camera.?
Lohman sets a trap for Prue. As she and Piper are leaving the house, he pushes a baby carriage into the street. Piper freezes the scene, then she and Prue chase down the carriage. They discover it?s empty. They spot Lohman hiding with his camera trained on their front porch. They get back into place, and Piper unfreezes the scene. When Lohman reviews the tape, he discovers that Piper?s purse magically moved from her right shoulder to her left shoulder.
Lohman confronts the sisters with what he?s found. Prue distracts him while Phoebe and Piper go to look for David in the storm drains. Lohman won?t let Prue leave with the vanquishing potion until she admits on tape that she?s a witch with magical powers. He insists on going with her to find David. When they get to the entrance to the storm drains, Prue tells him to wait outside?it?s too dangerous.
While Piper and Phoebe are underground looking for David, Piper falls into a hole and is knocked unconscious. Phoebe goes to get help, and meets up with Prue. Prue uses her powers to lift Piper out of the hole. Piper is weak, however, and Phoebe walks with her back toward the street.
Lohman fails to heed Prue?s warning and goes into the storm drains with his camera. He?s attacked by a Grimlock and killed. Andy, who?s investigating the kidnapping, talks to Brent Miller and finds out where the sisters have gone. He also heads into the storm drains and is attacked. But Prue uses her power against the Grimlock just in time to save Andy. Andy realizes that what Lohman told him about Prue?s powers was true.
Andy helps Piper up to the street while Prue and Phoebe look for David. They locate him and discover that he?s blind. The Grimlocks attack, but Prue is able to use the potion to vanquish them. David?s sight is restored, as is Brent Miller?s.
Piper realizes that while she was semiconscious in the storm drain, she kept thinking about Leo. And even though she knows Leo might never come back, she realizes that she can?t ask Josh to turn down a job offer for her. ?I’m going to call him and tell him I think he should take the job in Beverly Hills,? Piper says to her sisters. ?If I’m thinking about Leo, then I’m definitely not thinking about Josh.?
